Home Is Where You Hang Your Hat...

Hello friends!!

So sorry for the disappearing  act as of lately I have been super busy! The kids that I nanny for in the afternoons are back in school which means I am on the move all the time! BUT i have been doing some major decorating of the "Doll House" as I've so lovingly named my home :)

BUT FIRST....

I love the mantle! I will soon be emulating this in my house!
A couple of weekends ago Mama, Daddy, Skeeter and myself cruised on up to Highlands for a wonderful weekend together! My Aunt Shannon and Uncle David Hughs have a house there and it was magnificent!! Shannon has such an incredible decorating sense. Mama and I went from room to room just looking at how she put everything together. I took so many pictures, I will just let you look and enjoy yourselves!

I'm convinced if I had this stove I would cook... at least that's my story and I'm sticking to it

So warm and inviting!

What a lovely welcome on the front porch!
That chandelier is so great!

I love how Shannon organized everything with these cute labels!

Check out this bark siding isn't it to die for?!
I have been wanting to have a vanity in my room,  I love this one!

Love all the details!

This weekend was so nice, we did a whole lotta nothing which was exactly what I wanted to do! Nice and relaxing!! We watched the Olympics and had lots of good laughs! Thank you so much Uncle David and Aunt Shannon for letting us recharge our batteries in your lovely mountain home :)

Quarter of a Century?!

I am feeling VERY blessed today on my 25th Birthday!! I awake at 8:00 AM this morning to my dear sweet mother banging on EVERY window of my house...for those of you that know me I am not a morning person and it takes a crow bar to get me out of bed in the morning... I quickly realize it is my birthday and try to withdraw feelings of murder as I go to the door! Precious Neal stand there holding a yummy MIckey Dees breakfast for me! What a way to start the day :) "Today is the first day of the rest of your life" she says as she scoots out of the door and leaves me to my yummy breakfast and my nice warm bed! How did I get so lucky?!

Gettin' A Little Crafty...

So lately I have been working more and more on my little humble abode which in my case equals a lot of shopping. BUT Eddie Hughs if you are reading this I have been doing it within budget and in a very smart manner! Do I want to buy everything out of Ballard Design's Magazine YES but have I? NO! Arent you proud? You should be!!

The other day I was at Jo-anne's buying scissors for my curtain project...we will get to that later on. BUT they were having a huge sale and I scored some great things for around the living room.

I am sure I saw this on Pinterest or somewhere. I found a letter "H" on sale and a spool of twine for very cheap and this is the result...

It was so easy!!  Twine + H + Hot glue gun + Olympics = great night!! I am sure it will look much cuter on the wall than laying on my living room floor...  Once I figure out where to hang it Ill let yall know :)

Happy Birthday Ed Dunlap!!

Today, August 7th would have been my grandfather's 88th Birthday! He passed away in January and I miss him so much it hurts! It hurts a little less everyday but I know I will always have a little hole in my heart where he fit just perfectly. He was quite the character my grandfather. He loved the outdoors! He loved his dogs and talked about them until the end, he spent most of his life with his horses. He bled red and black and would talk your ear off about his Georgia Bulldogs. He was happiest in front of a roaring fire and most importantly he loved to be with his family! I miss his laugh. I miss betting on the Georgia Auburn game with him and I miss sitting in his kitchen and talking to him over some western movie on tv. I could sit here and tell you about him all day long and how much I miss him, but I thought I would show you his life in pictures. Enjoy and your welcome, now you can say you know a little about one of the greatest men to have ever lived!

I love you so much Doo and I cannot wait to reunite with you one day!  I love this poem, it brings me so much comfort. Every time I see a sunset, the wind blows through my hair or I am looking up at the moon I know you are with me.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft star-shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

What a greeting!

This is the greeting I got the other night at my parents house! I did do a little horn honking provoking but still makes a girl feel quite special to have such an excited crowd greet her!

Throwback Thursday!

Hello Hello!!

I found this little diddy the other day and I just had to share! This is my cousin Natalie and me Im guessing at age 3.... For those of you that knew us as children this picture just does not make sense. Natalie in the pink jump suit and big bow and me in a t shirt?? Maybe we did a brief "freaky Friday" moment for the day? Either way I love this picture! The second picture is a little more typical of us, I am acting a fool and Natalie is thinking get me away from this crazy girl! Love love love my Natalie! I cannot believe you are a married lady?! Where did the time go?

Way Down South...

This is my sweet Fo Fo (grandmother)! Isn't she adorable? I love this picture we convinced her to try a margarita and snapped this picture during the first sip...needless to say she did not care for it. BUT it made for a great picture!

Any how, this precious lady and I made our way down south to Waynesboro, Georgia last weekend and we had so much fun! I love being with my Fo Fo, she is so wise and insightful and our talks in the car mean so much to me. If I grow up to be half of the lady that she is I will be overjoyed.

We did this trip last summer as well so we both knew exactly where we would stop for lunch...The Varsity of course! After she finished off her slaw dog and I downed my onion rings we were ready to get our trip started!
After 3 hours of talking and laughing we made our way to Waynesboro. After I dropped Fo Fo off at The Palmer's house Aunt Carol and I did a little antiquein'. I scored big in their favorite antique shop downtown. As I'm decorating the house I will be sure to point out what I got there!
Later that night I drove back up to Augusta to stay with my cousin Ashley Poteet and her family of three boys and one very tall husband!

      Reed                      Cannon                      Brody

Are these not the cutest boys youve ever seen?? They were so fun and silly and FULL of energy! I have NO idea how Ashley does it, she is definitely SUPER MOM!!

I also got to visit with my sweet cousin Nan who is expecting ANY SECOND!! I tried to get that baby to come out while I was in town but baby Perrin was not having it. She will be here soon enough and I cannot wait to get my hands on her and love on her all day!!

I  drove home Sunday feeling very tired but very blessed to have such a sweet family! Cant wait to get back down there soon :)

P.S... Ive been getting busy in the house so there will be decorating updates coming very soon!!
